The Inorganic Chemistry of Jilin University was established in 1952 as a division of the Department of Chemistry for the teaching of chemistry. Nowadays, with more than 300 scientists and students and state-of-the-art in instrumentation, the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the Jilin University is one of the best inorganic research and education center in China.
The Department of Inorganic Chemistry incorporated the pioneering advances in chemical research in the State Key Lab of Inorganic Synthesis and Preparative Chemistry into its graduate teaching. With a wide spectrum of research being explored, the Inorganic Chemistry offers a rich selection of programs for undergraduate and graduate study with interdisciplinary among biology, nanoscience and physics. The Inorganic Chemistry operates superb instrumentation that supports its research and teaching mission. Our inorganic chemists are in demand by the industries, government and education. We are proud that many of our graduate and undergraduate students are holding key positions in these organizations.
Under the leadership of Professor Ruren Xu (an academician of CAS and a world-leading scientist in inorganic chemistry), the 58 faculty members, including 22 full professors, 14 associate professors and senior engineers are engaged in eight core areas of inorganic chemistry research:
1. Molecular Engineering of Inorganic Microporous Materials
2. Inorganic Functional Materials
3. Host-Guest Chemistry and Physics
4. Functional Cluster Materials
5. Inorganic Nanomaterials
6. High-Pressure Synthesis
7. Bio-Inspired Advanced Materials
8. Metal-Organic Frameworks Materials
